A variety of things kept us from checking on the new house last week (I was out of state for most of it which made going to Round Rock quite tough). Monday afternoon I decided to swing by and check out what I found: WALLS!

You can take the girl outta the beach
But you can't take the beach outta the girl.
Which is why spending three nights down on the Texas Gulf Coast felt oh-so-right this weekend. It was true and utter bliss. A little slice of heaven. Temps hovering around 90, a solid sea breeze, the smell of salt, cute hubby, good friends, country music and the latest edition of Texas Monthly. I'm pretty sure when I die, that's where I'm going (or at least, that's what I'm requesting).

I realize seagulls, like pigeons, are rats with wings. But at least these rats with wings mean the ocean is nearby. |

Let the packing begin!
Yesterday my girlfriend Nichole moved into a new apartment and as anticipated, found she was in need of some cheap, easy bookshelves. Well I happen to own 2 cheap and easy bookshelves of the Target/Walmart variety that I was planning to throw out/donate as part of the move. No sense in me doing that when they could have a new home with Nichole.
So we traded. I gave her my two bookshelves and she gave me her gently used packing boxes. And with that, the packing of our current home for the move to our new home commenced.
(Also my study looks like a tornado came through it and the closet in that room is exploding like the ones you see in cartoons. I'm pretty sure this is one of those situations where it is going to get worse [possibly much worse] before it gets better.)

My Popsicle Stick House
OK, holding out on sharing photos is just not going to be successful for me. So I'm throwing that goal out the window. Instead, I'm just going to share photos different than the ones that I'm using in the build time lapse video. Hopefully that will keep some level of intrigue with the video.
That said, here's the latest on our house, which as you can see looks like it is built of popsicle sticks.
For context, the part of the first floor you are looking at is my study and the second floor is the master closet. And yes, that is a window in the closet you see. Pretty fantastic right?

1300 Diapers
Last night we hosted a diaper shower for Jon and Erin and their soon-to-arrive baby girl, Rowan.
I was quite pleased with our set up. Ross cleaned the garage a bit and with Jon's help, set up a canopy, complete with misters, in the driveway, right off of the garage. The garage hosted beer pong and flip cup (clearly this is just a raucous good party with diapers involved).
Inside we had food and a "make a baby" game where you could take pieces of Jon and Erin's face and collage them into your best guess of baby Rowan. My fav was the one where she had smiling lips for an ear.
Rowan will be here next month and her parents are now ready...well at least on the diaper front. Last night's party haul is an estimated 1300 diapers in at least 3 different sizes and 3 different brands. Bring it baby!
If you have friends expecting a little one, a diaper shower is a great way to involve dad and his buddies. Since the kiddo is gonna need all kinds of diapers anyway, it is an easy gift for the buddies to pick up and not have to worry about messing up. Top it off with some fundraising games (usually we play washers and the expecting couple gets half the winnings) and you are good to go!

Hi guys, what's goin on
I'm pretty sure that's what she's sayin
Two posts in one day! The world is going crazy! But with a close-up this cute, how could I not post it?
Early Days
We're still in very early days on the build, so much so that there isn't even concrete yet. And while I'm going to be stingy on photos in general (I'm telling you, wait for the time lapse), here's one to hold you over.

My husband is amazing
He also takes me to Europe. A very good husband indeed. |
- He did laundry today while I was at work.
- He came up to my office this afternoon to respond to my "I have a flat tire and don't know what to do about it" call. (Thankfully it just REALLY needed air...we think.)
- He made me filet mignon for dinner. It was SO good.
- Tomorrow he is figuring out my tax and legal filings for my freelance work.

Double Dad
On his way to meet Kevin in New Mexico for a car exchange, Dad made a stop over in Austin on Friday night. And tonight on his way back from the same, he's hanging out with us again. Two Dad visits in one weekend!
Coming in a close second to seeing Dad twice this weekend is that I got to drive Kevin's new car before he did. BAM! Take that little brother!
