Hubby/Daddy for the win!
I'm churning out tons of work today and my fabulous hubby is working just as hard. He's taking care of the Cade-man (and from all the giggling I hear, doing a great job of it) and he even delivered a working-lunch to my office for me. Including Four Cheese Cheez-its, my new snack-food obsession.
Best hubby/daddy ever.

Our wine bar
Check out the new pendant lights over our (wine) bar. Big thanks to the hubs for hanging them last week.
Also I had forgotten how delicious Cupcake chardonnay is. But I am remembering now. Yum.
Who wants to come sit at our wine bar and drink some with me?
(Two days notice requested so I can order barstools via Amazon...otherwise we can sit on the couch and admire the bar and lights from a distance.)

#SelfEmployedProblems
On days where my meetings and Cade pick-up time leave an awkward period, I often work at the Starbucks near Erin's house instead of driving home in between. Today was such a day.
And it was the worst Starbucks experience I have ever had.*
Which is saying something since as a dedicated customer I'm there at least twice per week.
I go into Starbucks, order my standard drink and fire up my laptop. The internet takes forever to connect but whatever, no biggie. But then it won't stay connected. And it keeps trying to connect to the free Kinkos internet but that signal isn't very strong. So now my internet is just flip flopping, taking forever to load and basically not letting me get anything done. Super awesome.
Magnified awesome by the group of three teenagers, complete with sparkley iPhone cases (I've got nothing sparkley iPhone cases but it really emphasized the teen in these teenagers), and they proceed to gab. Suzie's boyfriend this, Jason's cousin that, Ms. Teacher whatever, gab gab gab. I know, coffee shops are a space for chatting with friends. I do it too. But Lordy, it is not conducive to trying to work.
And then the kicker. Some guy brings his tween and baby sons into Starbucks and sits on the other side of me. AND THEN UNWRAPS THEIR McDONALD'S LUNCH. In Starbucks! Greasy cheeseburger and french fry smells assaulted my nose. Mixed with coffee. Ugh. And then the baby, a Cade-aged baby, starts to cry. Baby-Daddy rocks the car seat once and then gives up and goes back to his fat-laced burger.
That was when I decided if I was not going to work and was going to listen to a crying baby, it might as well be my own crying baby.
Please oh please when school starts let my Starbucks go back to being a perfect little satellite office.
*I realize "the worst Starbucks experience" is a pretty yuppie complaint in life. In fact it is probably one of the best complaints one can have, right behind "too much many" or "too many vacation days." So yeah...I know.

Gross
I'll spare you a gross pic and just give you what you really came here for: a cute baby pic |
Which is why I am now telling you this: baby eating solids is new and exciting. Except when it isn't. Like when there is spit-up within a few hours of trying out some avocado.
That is just gross.
So much

Avocado Monster
Today we added avocado to Cade's diet via the mesh food holder things. The only thing that wasn't popular was when the avocado was finished.

5 Month Photoshoot (+ Out takes!)
Cade is a full five months old today. Right now he is
That picture took FOREVER to get and required his dad to make him laugh (apparently I am old news). In the process though we got these awesome out takes
- rolling from back to tummy like a champ
- getting better at sitting unassisted every day
- eating banana cereal for breakfast and sweet potatoes for dinner
- taking 4-5 naps per day because most are under an hour
- usually only waking up once at night
- breaking into a huge grin when he sees Erin and Ro
- going to bed around 8:30-8:45p

Mmmm Sweet Potatoes
Tonight the Cade-man had sweet potatoes (mixed into rice cereal) as part of his dinner. They were a hit!
This was also our first store-bought baby food and the first veggie that was successful. Previously I've been pureeing his food but after peas failed this weekend (I couldn't get them fine enough in my cheapo blender thing), I decided to try a store-bought veggie option (organic of course...not because I'm super concerned with that but because apparently that is the only kind of pureed baby food our yuppie grocery store sells).
For the next month at least Cade will remain a vegetarian baby: fruit with breakfast, veggies with dinner. After his 6 month check up maybe we'll try pureed meat, if the doctor recommends it.

Sittin' Pretty
Cade's startin' to get the hang of this sitting thing.
He balances a little better every day. I bet by the end of the week he's rockin it.
We'll also be showcasing his sitting skills in a high chair now. I built this sucker today while entertaining him (he's a handyman in the making) and drinking a glass of wine. #Winning

40 Hours in Vegas
The trip was short and consequently did not include much sleep. Thus this blog post will also be short so I can go to sleep.
Friday afternoon we flew to Vegas to meet the Deltas for our annual trip. Ross and I stayed at Luxor and after a quick check-in met up with some of the girls for drinks. Ross left to join the boys and we had Val's Shower Hour and then dinner. Shower as in BRIDAL SHOWER. That's when she told us that yes, she and Justin would be getting married in Vegas. Hurray!
After dinner we met back up wit the boys for a comedy show at Bally's. It was hysterical! The headliner reminded us of Stacy in his look and mannerisms so that made it even funnier. The group adventured a bit together afterward but ended up splitting up based on interest. Val and I grabbed a midnight snack and drinks before venturing back down The Strip to our hotels.
Saturday was pretty laid back for the first part of the day. Ross and I pigged out at the hotel brunch and then he went off to gamble with Justin while I went exploring with the girls. I also snuck in some pool time and Ross played in a poker tournament.
Then it was more eating and drinking including the Minus 5 Ice Bar with the Deltas and an array of husbands. Ross played a LOT of craps. I wish I could tell you he won tons but while at the ice bar I received this text: "So I lost me $$...I said Ross u can go home with your other $$ and buy something nice...or u can grab that other $$ and be a true Black and lose it...all in."
So yeah. You can guess how that went ;)
The really good stuff though came late Saturday night. At 10:45p we met in the lobby of Mandalay Bay (where everyone else was staying) and piled into a Hummer limo (that was in the new movie Hangover 3). We swooped into MGM to grab AJ and Kristin who were at a concert and then off to the Little White Wedding Chapel for Val and Justin to get hitched!
Val and Justin were married a little before midnight in the back if a pink Cadillac and with an Elvis officiant. Their vows included Val promising not to step on Justin's blue suede shoes and Justin promising to be her hunk hunk a-burnin' love.
On the way back to the hotel, we sang "I am a T" in the limo (it's become a super fun and a little silly wedding tradition) and stopped at the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign where a professional photographer took a round of wedding photos for us.
Since Ross and I flew back at 7a today, we had to head to bed once we got back. As it was, we only got 2 hours of sleep. Which is why you will understand that now I must go to bed. But you should definitely enjoy this gem from the wedding. What you can't see is Ross just to their left practically giddy as he sang along with Elvis.
Congrats Val and Justin!!

Roll Baby Roll
While I was in meetings this afternoon, Cade completed his first back to tummy roll! Ross witnessed it firsthand. And tonight after his bath, the Cade-man did it again for me! That's my rollin' baby!
