First Pumpkin Bread

003The first pumpkin bread loaves of the season are in the oven! My house smells very pumpkiny. I wish I could figure out how to capture the scent and include it here for you.

This pumpkin bread is part of my attempt to bring fall to town. I have Yankee Candle apple cider plug-in things, an apple cider candle, other apple cinnamon candles (Ross' pick), a pumpkin front door hanger and though I should probably be a little ashamed to admit it since it is still September, a ghost yard sign, jack-o-lantern candle holder and spiderweb candle holder. All out and on display.

Never mind that it is still September and that it was 102 in Austin today. Those things are irrelevant.

Our family came in way under budget for this pay period and opted to invest the surplus in Halloween/fall decor, which is now proudly displayed all over our home. There is black and orange garland (with pumpkins!) on the doorway to the kitchen, black and orange sparkle garland up the staircase, a super cute haunted house with candles inside on the TV stand, hollow ceramic ghost and pumpkin with candles inside in the window sill, and finally a plastic door cover with a stack of funny-faced pumpkins holding a "Happy Halloween" sign. Yes, I put these up on September 24. Thankfully, it's been in the high 70's and low 50's at night, so that's my excuse. Also, the first "official" day of fall was September 23, so it's totally legit.
